Deniz shook his head. His ears pinned back and he looked away. He didn't like the idea of the SEC not telling him something that important. He also didn't really like the idea of his master talking to them. What if they thought he was defective? Would they be able to come take him away and simply give the Werehawk back his money?

"You have that look on your face again," he said, leaning against a tree, "or rather your eyes. Your face is too animal for me to read." He shifted himself back into a hawk and hopped up onto a log, sinking his talons into the bark. Why such an expression? You can talk you know.

Deniz stood, watching his master shift into hawk form. He remained silent as he paced before he sat down again, his ears still pinned back. The SEC....They'll think I'm not good enough if you contact them. He avoided looking at Fino, keeping his gaze on the log beneath the Werehawk, and on their surroundings.

He shrugged his wings, feathers ruffling softly in place. He strutted to the edge of the log and looked Deniz right in the eye. Why should you care what they think? I thought such things were beyond you... to care that is. If they think you are inadequate, that is for me to deal with, not you. So stop worrying. It won't do you any good.

The wolf whined, growing uncomfortable when he was looked at in the eye. Yes, master. It was a short reply, and he disagreed with what Fino said, but he didn't want to start an argument. He should be worrying over his master now, not over the SEC.

He nodded with a sharp jerk of his head. Good. In a convulsive twist, he transformed back into a human, standing on the log just as the hawk had. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and looked at Deniz shrewdly. "Can you change back then?" he asked.

Deniz backed away slowly, ears still pinned, shaking his head slowly. He still felt exhausted and hungry. He'd probably be able to turn back if he had something to eat. He was used to hunting in North Town....and whenever he had managed to escape. Hunting here might be a little different, but probably still manageable.

"Do what you must to change back then," he said. "We cannot remain here too long. If it is food you need or something, go off and hunt. I will wait here."

The black and white wolf hesitated. On one hand he was supposed to protect his master no matter what. Even if he was hungry, tired, sick or dying. On the other, he was also supposed to obey his master's commands as well. He whined, remaining where he was for a few more moments before he padded off. He glanced over his shoulder constantly, scared that something would happen to Fino once he was out of sight. His nose twitched, sniffing the air for prey small enough for an easier catch yet large enough to actually satisfy him.

Fino had no intention of leaving his Satellite's side. It would only distress the poor thing anyway. Shifting back to a hawk, he took to the skies, flying over the tree tops where he knew Deniz was. His own sharp vision was turned down to watch Deniz' progress, and perhaps locate prey for himself.

Feeling the gaze of another on him, Deniz looked up and saw the hawk flying over head. He couldn't be sure if this hawk was his master, but he hoped it was Fino. Thoughts and worries of his master were briefly put on pause as he caught the fresh scent of a rabbit. Nose to the ground, he followed the trail.

Fino swooped down below the points of the trees and landed on a thick branch. Talons dug into the bark, splintering it gently, while he folded his glossy brown-black wings to his sides. The winds ruffled his feathers a little, but he enjoyed the breeze. From this perch, he watched Deniz catch a trail and follow it, admiring his stealth and senses.

The trail twisted and turned, going around numerous trees and through a number of bushes, and Deniz continued to follow after it. He crept into a rather large bush, crouching down lowly. Though he couldn't see his prey, he smelt it and heard it. The rabbit was off to his left, munching on something from the sounds of it. He crept forwards slowly, peering through the leaves. His prey was at a berry bush, it's back turned towards him though it's ears flickered every now and again. His muscles tensed, preparing himself to leap out of the vegetation and launch at the smaller mammal. This reminded him of his first hunt. He had only been a pup then, and he had escaped North Town for the first time. He had gotten lost, he wandered about in the cold for hours and had worked up quite an appetite. His first kill had been that artic hare too. Though by then the SEC had found him and they took his prey away from him before they locked him in a cage. The Satellite pushed the memory away and focused on the present once more. At least he knew this kill would be his. Taking position, he launched out of his hiding place and landed on top of the rabbit. He bit and twisted it’s neck without hesitation before he begun to hungrily rip, tear and devour.

Fino went from tree to tree, following his Satellite. Like clockwork, the prey was followed, found, and killed. He watched in morbid fascination at the way Deniz ate. And like Deniz, it reminded him of a hunt in a time gone by. It was a dreadful night marked by intense thunder and lightning. The river had flooded. The winds whipped by fast enough to shatter and carry away trees. Fino had been in human form. Running. His clothes tearing in the wind. He followed his quarry by the sound of the prey's panting and stumbling. He had injured it first. In a matter of moments he found it. Caught it. Killed it. Made it suffer... Fino shook himself down like involuntary shivers. Stop it! Stop thinking about it! He shook out his wings and settled down in his ruffled feathers.

The Satellite made short work of the rabbit. Once he was done, he sat back and licked at his muzzle. It wasn’t much of a meal, but it was enough to satisfy the hunger for now. The black and white wolf looked up at the trees, his tail wagging slightly when he saw his master up in a nearby branch. Getting up he padded towards the hawk, shifting back into human form half way there. He stood at the base of the tree, looking up at the hawk, tilting his head. Something felt off. He couldn’t read the hawk’s body language. He hadn’t dealt with werebirds too often to learn their body language…but something still felt off. Was this feeling coming from the bond? It didn’t look like Fino was in any distress. Was it something else he had done? Deniz glanced back at the rabbit, wiping blood and bits of rabbit fur off of his mouth with the back of his hand. Had Fino wanted some of the rabbit too? He finally held his hands behind his back, glancing up at the werehawk again before he looked away. He didn’t think his master would tell him what was wrong, and if he wasn’t told it also wasn’t any of his business.
