Where the North Town Satellites and workers eat. Both areas are divided from each other. The Satellite's eating area is larger and more open, but the workers' area is more cozy and comfortable with a more relaxed feel.

Deniz just came into the mess hall after some long hours of training. The twenty four year old Satellite sat down by himself, not seeing any of the others he usually spoke to. He made quick business out of his lunch, getting up to put his plate and utensils away. He always rushed when he ate. After he had spent long hours in small cages for his disobedience when he was younger he didn't like staying indoors too much.

One of the instructors approached Deniz and tapped him on the shoulder. "Get up. You're wanted in the Centre House." The instructor didn't say what it was, but there were only a few things it could mean: he was being punished, he was being commended, his schedule was being adjusted, or he was being assigned.

Deniz frowned, and nodded simply. He knew better than to ask why he was wanted. Leaving the mess hall he thought over if he had done anything wrong, if he was going to be punished. As far as he could remember he hadn't. That didn't make him any less nervous.

Riddle sat at one of the satellite's tables, a bowl of soup in front of him. When he'd gotten the soup, it had been so hot that it had burned his tongue when he tasted it, so he'd pushed it to the side and pulled out his book, but he'd soon forgotten about his soup so it sat to the side, nearly room temperature. His head was bowed over his book, the only motion he made was to turn the page or snicker occasionally when a character did something particularly funny.

Lucan glared at the bowl of slop they dared to call 'soup' and he slid onto a bench, nearly spilling the contents of the bowl everywhere as he did so. He was sitting next to Riddle, but hardly regarded the other Satellite as he choked down the disgusting, burning food. It wasn't until Riddle made a noise that he actually glanced over at the weresnake. "It's wrong to make sounds like that," he said dryly, regurgitating the demands of their superiors. He had already gotten to the point where he did not care, but he still did not want to see someone beaten over something so inane.

Riddle glanced up, seeming almost surprised to see someone else in the hall. He shut his book but kept his finger in to mark his spot. "It isn't if no one is here to hear it." He noticed his bowl of soup and pulled it towards him. He took a bite before making a face and pushing it away again.

Latif had been sitting at a different table, his long legs crossed and resting his boots on the bench across from him. He was munching on a plate full of veggies, watching the others in the mess hall quietly. He liked to keep tabs on the other satellites and those that worked in North Town as well. It was one of the few ways he knew how to pass the time. He raised an eyebrow seeing a few other satellites at a nearby table. Good thing he didn't pick the soup.

Lucan glanced back at his dinner. That sort of talk just caused trouble. There always were a few oddballs around who continued to defy the rules. It seemed this kid was one of them. He spooned some more food into his mouth and decided to drop the matter.

"Haven't you ever wanted to laugh?" Riddle asked quietly. "People in stories laugh all the time. I don't think its bad, so long as you know when not to laugh." Towards the end of his words, he started to mumbled, talking more to himself than the satellite next to him. He knew Lucan wouldn't be interested.

And he thought right. "Stories are pointless," he said. "History is the only sort that truly matters. If you want to laugh, then maybe try getting sold to a comedian or something." Lucan grimaced at the thought. There was little reason a commoner would ever require the services of a Satellite. Hopefully Riddle would learn his place before he was bought.

Latif frowned, listening onto the conversation of the other two Satellites. Sooner or later the younger ones would learn how to be proper. He wasn't the perfect example of the best Satellite. He was still here after all. He refused to believe that there was something wrong with him, but it was hard to believe otherwise when that's all he's been hearing.

Riddle thought of that option with disgust. He wouldn't want to be sold to a comedian. He wasn't entirely sure what he actually wanted, he'd never given it much thought because it was never up to him. But he didn't want to be a comedian. "History is wrong more than its right," he replied after a pause, more for the sake of arguing than actually wanting to prove his point.

Lucan would hate being sold to a comedian. He was not one to flaunt the fact that he had a goal, nor would he really call it that, but he did desire to be used in battle. It was the one thing he was good at above everything else. He also was not one to argue much of anything except perhaps when it concerned something relevant. Like Riddle's laughing. "Maybe so. But that is up to historians to debate. We are to learn from history and apply it."

"Humph," Riddle made a face and restlessly stirred his soup a couple times. He opened his book again and tried to read, but he couldn't concentrate. He jumped to his feet, book clutched in his hand and soup forgotten on the table. "We should train," he announced. He doubted any of the other satellites would pass up a chance to beat him up as was so often the result.
