Adrian didn't look back to see if how many were following him, or to see how close they were. It would be tricky to balance himself enough to look behind him, and he didn't want to waste the energy to do so. So he continued flying and foolishly hoped that he wouldn't have to do any fighting.

The ones following Kieran caught up, seeing as Kieran had slowed down. He tucked his wings and shot back behind them, then opened his mouth and... nothing. I can't breathe! he realized with horror. My fire is gone! It only took that second of hesitation for him to lose the drop he had on them. They wheeled around and came at him all at once, breathing fire and beating the air with their mighty wings. One raked his claws down Kieran's side. Fire burned his wings and back. He shrieked in rage and flipped around, slamming his tail into the face of an oncoming dragon. The dragon dropped out of the sky and hit the trees below.

When Adrian heard Kieran's shrieks he knew the guards had caught up with his brother and would be catching up with him. He heard a roar and then felt the fiery zap hit his tail and zip up his back. He screeched, looking behind him slightly, and saw a pair of dragons flying after him. Tucking his wings he dived down steeply.

The dragon he slapped came right back up and snapped its wing at his face. Kieran ducked and beat hi wings to get above him when a dark blue dragon zipped by, flipping around to slash diagonally at his torso. Kieran lunged forward with his head and caught the claws in his mouth. A serrated talon bit into the inside of his mouth, but he clamped down hard and ripped away, taking the leg off with him. The blue dragon rolled away, spraying blue blood across the trees. A bright yellow dragon replaced him, letting off a massive cloud of roiling flame from an open maw, illuminating three sets of jagged sharks' teeth. Kieran beat the air with his wings and soared up and over the fire blast, barely getting singed on the tail tip. He saw a grove of dead trees and headed for those, determined to lose them in their tangled wood.

Adrian dived down towards the ground, pulling up at the last minute. Peering over his shoulder, he saw his dive didn't do anything to the guards behind him. They must have known that was the sort of trick he was going to try. Just as he was turning his head away he saw the white dragon following him open it's mouth, a ball of white growing larger in it's mouth. He veered off to the left and right, trying to make it harder for the white dragon to hit him. The blast ended up hitting a nearby tree instead, and when he heard a shriek, he looked back and saw the white dragon was being attacked by another dark blue dragon. One that looked familiar. Turning around he flapped his wings harder, seeing that the other dragon following him when to aid the white dragon. At the sound of the pained screech he turned around again, seeing the other dragon had clamped it's large jaws on the dark blue dragon's wings and was trying to pull them off of the white dragon's face. The blue dragon was whipping their tail and trying to reach the dragon biting down on their wings, but they couldn't quite reach. Making up his mind, Adrian shot back towards the other dragon, and dug his talons into it's back. Reaching it's head, he blew a jet of ice onto it's face which covered it's eyes and nose. The dragon bucked beneath him, and he flew off as it let go of the other dark blue dragon's wings.

Kieran spat the leg out and rolled under the branches of a tree. he had to spin, duck, and veer sharply to avoid the branches that reached out to him like massive talons. With a massive clap, he snapped his wings out, creating drag that brought him to a halt. He folded his wings back and slithered along the ground, weaving through tree roots, blinking the ash from his eyes as he stirred it up. He heard a screech overhead. He stopped. A shadow loomed above. Then another. Then a roar resounded through the wastes and the world lit up with dragon fire. The bright yellow dragon dropped to the ground before Kieran, vermillion tipped wings folding against his ridged back. Purple eyes with dark blue pupils swirled at him. There were three eyes total. Each blinked and swiveled, focusing bizarrely on Kieran's face. the dragon bared its teeth but did nothing, just watched. Kieran knew the other dragons would surely come. Don't do this. I am your prince, he rumbled lowly. The yellow dragon regarded him with all three eyes and lashed his tail. You killed the king. Kieran hissed. Is that what you really believe? Does any of this seem real to you? The trial was a farce. The evidence was dodgy. The proceeding was rushed. And coincidentally, everyone of the royal children is removed from power to lead General Razka on the throne. What about this seems right? The yellow dragon's eyes narrowed, the pupils contracting to fine lined slits. With a guttural rumble, the yellow dragon muttered. I have no choice, my prince. I have to fight you. Kieran could guess why. Any one who defied Razka would be a fool. Razka had all the power in his hands. All Kieran, Adrian, and Alice had were titles. Except, maybe, Adrian had more power than Razka thought. Very well, he said to the yellow dragon. But I will not give in easily.

Adrian circled, above the fighting pair of dragons, watching the other dark blue one furiously claw at the white dragon's eyes, hitting the dragon's head with the spike on his tail. When the white dragon opened it's mouth another ball of white began to form and the dark blue dragon set a jet of ice down it's throat. The white dragon wheezed, struggling to breathe and it veered off before crashing to the ground. Adrian drifted down to the ground as well, starting to feel dizzy. Was he anywhere near the border? Either way, it seemed like a lost cause now. He glanced up again, seeing the other dark blue dragon was fighting the other dragon that had bitten his wings earlier.

Kieran lunged first, knocking the three eyed creature back. The yellow dragon rebounded off the branch behind it and slammed into Kieran, digging his claws into Kieran's throat. Kieran slammed his wing tip into the dragon's throat. He hissed and backed down hile Kieran rose up on his hind legs and dropped his weight onto the dragon's head, pinning him down. Both dragons locked limbs and rolled over each other, jabbing their heads down to snap and bite at necks, legs, wings, chests, stomaches, anything. Kieran's fangs scraped against the bony plates covering the dragon's chest before catching on a chink in the armor. He bit down hard and lashed his head side to side. The dragon, though older, was somewhat smaller, and so was pushed about, though not as shaken as Kieran would have liked. The dragon wriggled in Kieran's grasp, then stretched forward. With jaws open wide, he plunged downward, biting deep into Kieran's empty eye socket. The metal strained under the force, sending fresh blood surging from the still unhealed injury, weak closures splitting wide open at the sudden force. Kieran roared, screaming, shrieking. He pulled away, writhing and screaming from the pain that burned through his head, down his neck, to his heart. He hardly noticed the dragon pounce on him and sink his fangs between Kieran's broken scales in his neck and draw blood from a fresh source, such was his blinding pain. H grit his fangs and shouted at himself to gain some control. With every conscious effort directed at one task, he managed to leap up, bat his wings to gaina few feet, then let himself fall to earth, landing on his back, crushing the enemy under his weight.

Adrian was still down on the ground, hardly aware of what was going on around him. The heard the sounds of fighting still going on above him, though he wasn't sure which dragon was winning or losing. He wasn't even paying attention to what had happened to the white dragon. Was it dead? Was it coming after him? At the sounds of familiar cries, he lifted his head up off the ground, waiting before he stood up and started flapping his wings again. He had barely managed to make it off of the ground before he was being pulled back down. He shrieked when his tail was bitten into. The wheezing white dragon pulled him back down to the ground and pinned him beneath him. He squirmed, clawing and biting at whatever he could reach of the other dragon, but it didn't seem like anything was working. The other dark blue dragon flew down, whipping his tail at the white dragon's face before speeding off as the other dragon chased after him. A few more times the other blue dragon did this before the white dragon roared and chased after him as well. Adrian got up shakily, watching the dragons fighting above him before he flew up to join them. He managed to bite into their wings. making a few good sized holes before he was wacked out of the air and came crashing down.

Kieran rolled over, leaving the yellow dragon to lie there gasping. Kieran rose up on his hind legs and brought himself down on the dragon's chest. Over and over and over again. He wrapped his tail around a boulder and brought it around like a massive mace. The dragon spasmed and lay still. Not dead. Just unconscious with several broken ribs by now. I can't kill this one, Kieran thought, dropping the boulder. He slinked back through the tree, heading to Adrian's position. He could hear the sounds of fighting. Almost there, he thought, scrabbling out from under the branches of a massive, ash encrusted tree. Suddenly, a massive mound of purple and bronze scales came crashing down over Kieran's head. The great dragon slammed a clawed fist into Kieran's face. Kieran roared and lunged at the dragon's neck, jaw snapping mere millimeters from where the dragon had been before as it expertly sidestepped away. Kieran's hackles rose. Where had this one even come from?

Adrian tried to get up again, try and join in the blurry fight he saw taking place above him. A larger form came crashing down some distance away from him, and lifting his head up off the ground it took him a few long moments to realize it was the white dragon. Whether or not it was dead or knocked out, he couldn't tell. Feeling something land beside him, his eyes fluttered open, and he struggled to keep them open. Sleep sounded like a good idea. He didn't have the energy to move or even grow tense when he noticed it was Lorcan that landed next to him. When the other dark blue dragon nudged him, he growled softly, but he still didn't move. Without warning, his twin picked him up and begun to fly with him, barely off of the ground. Adrian squirmed, trying to get out of the other dragon's grasp, but his attempt was half-hearted. A few seconds later he shifted into his much smaller human form, and let himself be carried away.

Kieran saw a dark shape in the sky. Looking up, he saw Lorcan taking off with his brother held in his gasp. Adrian! he roared. But the pruple dragon gave him somethign else to think about, lunging at his injured neck. Kieran was thrown back as the dragon tackled him, sinking razor sharp fangs into his throat. Scales broke under the crushing weight of three rows of fangs, all stuffed into the purple dragon's massive jaws. Kieran coughed, feeling his windpipe collapsing under the pressure and the pain of needles stabbing his flesh as the points of the teeth inched closer to the exposed flesh of his throat through the scales. Kieran broguth his hind legs up and scrabbled at the dragon's underbelly with viscous swipes. He sunk his claws into the space between his belly plates and dug in hard. He could smell blood now. The other dragon's blood. The purple dragon ripped away and shot into teh air, beating his wings and soaring up and after Adrian. At least that's what Kieran was thinking. So he launched himself up and after the dragon, overtaking him with adrenalin fueled lunges in the air, spurned by the need to protect his sibling. He lunged forward and closed his jaws around the other's tail. The purple dragon hissed and rolled over, pulling his tail in and Kieran along with it. Kieran let go as the dragon tried to kick him in the face. Veering off to the side, Kieran flapped his wings and rose up over a smog cloud, then dove through it to slam into the dragon's exposed belly. Blood splashed across his face as he made impact with the messy injury he had put there. Snarling, the dragon bucked and shot away, soaring towards the horizon then up into the sky. Kieran free fell for a split second before spiraling around and shooting up after him. He was faltering now, some of his adrenalin wearing down, bringing with its absence, the pain of his injuries. He bit them back and pressed on, letting out an enraged roar as he did so. Coming up behind the purple dragon again, he snarled and lashed out, just missing the other's wing tip. The purple dragon twisted its head around and fired a jet of fire. Kieran shut his eye and let it pass over him harmlessly, only feeling slight prickles of pain over his exposed injuries. He flew up into the air and shot down, jaws wide open. The dragon was flying straight towards him too. He flew right over the dragon's head and down the length of his body. The dragon grabbed onto his tail with his anged mouth. Kieran jerked back, and limbs flailing, slashed right through the dragon's right wing. They were suspended in air maybe a moment, carried on by their momentum. Then they went plunging down, spiraling rapidly out of control as the dragon's shredded wing went limp and broke at the force. Kieran lashed around in the dragon's grip, trying to break free. There was no way he could carry the both of them. In a desperate frenzy, he twisted himself around, trying to bite the dragon and get him to let go. But it was too late. They both crashed into the ground with a massive boom, sending ash and dirt up all around them. The ground stilled, and neither one was moving.

Adrian jolted into wakefulness when he heard Kieran roar his name. He twisted and turned in his twin's grasp, looking to see if he could spot his eldest brother flying towards him, but he couldn't see him anywhere. The boom alerted him to his brother's whereabouts. Who else could that be if not Kieran fighting off one of the guards sent after them? He squirmed in Lorcan's grasp, trying to free himself once more. "I have to go see if Kieran is okay.....just let me go!" He panted from his effort, slamming bloody fists onto the dragon's forearm.
Lorcan ignored his look alike for a time before he turned and flew towards where he heard the massive sound. It was against his better judgement to go towards an area after such a disturbance occurred. Circling the area a few times, he finally landed. His gaze landed on the pair of unmoving dragons. He kept a firm grip on Adrian, not planning on letting him go. There could be other dragons near by waiting to attack them. He slowly approached the other pair when he didn't see, hear or smell anyone else.

The ash was still settling a little when they landed, particles of gray and back and yellow scintillating in the harsh light of the volcanic sky. The dragons did not stir, locked into a twisted orbouros with their motionless bodies. Then there was a stir, and Kieran pulled his tail away from the other dragon' maw, lashing it back and forth like a sidewinder in the filthy ground. But then he was still again, not even the slight rise and fall of his chest to give away if he was alive or dead. At least the movement would give more hope to the former.

Adrian didn't struggle to free himself from Lorcan's grasp, seeing that they were heading towards the other dragons. His heart leapt up into his throat and got stuck there. At the tail movement he thought Kieran was still conscious, but he begun to panic when he couldn't see signs of his brother breathing. What if the tail moving had been a twitch of sort and that Kieran was really...."Kieran!" Adrian yelled and begun to struggle again. Against Lorcan's restraints, he reached out towards his eldest brother's muzzle.
