Alice flopped back down on her bed and rolled over, grabbing a pillow and hugging it. She yawned once more before closing her eyes and trying to fall asleep.

Enethar leaned back in the chair and dozed, wavering between asleep and awake. He was determined to keep an eye on her, considering everything that had been happening as of late.

The next day, Enethar sat up and looked at the sunlight filtering through the window shades. He rubbed his eyes, still drained from lack of sleep. He waited for his master to wake up.

Alice was still asleep until she rolled off her bed and landed with a thud. She jumped awake, startled, but then laughed, embarrassed. "Good morning Enethar." She stood up, rubbing the back of her head.

"I am functioning well," he said, pretty sure that that was the answer she desired. After all, a machine was no good if it was not well maintained and ready for service. He knew he would need to attain some sustenance sooner rather than later.

He stood up, stretching the stiffness from his muscles. Even so, the chair had been more comfortable than the cell at North Town. Straightening his sweatshirt, he followed after her.

Enethar shut the door after them and looked at her to lead the way. He still had to get used to the layout of the place.

That evening, Enethar came to Alice's bedroom door and knocked. He looked back over his shoulder down the hallway. Hopefully none of the others would wake up.

Alice opened her door after a moment, feeling paranoid, but seeing Enethar, she let out a massive sigh of relief. "Oh thank goodness! Welcome back Enethar." She stepped out of his way so he could walk in.
