The streets of the City of Storms are usually quiet and often empty, unlike the Downtown though. The only flora lining these sidewalks are small trees and shrubs so as not to endanger anyone walking along during a storm.

"Do you think its safe to go home yet, Deny?" Hallen asked quietly. He didn't see anyone else on the street but it was an old habit. "I'm hungry, they can't still be watching the house, can they?" Normally he would have elected to stay away longer just to be on the safe side but he was getting very hungry.

“I don’t know, Leny,” Hayden frowned, glancing up at her brother, her gaze quickly returned to the street. She hadn’t seen anyone following them either, but she knew better than to always go with what she’s seen. “You never know,” she shrugged slightly. She paused beside one of the small trees on the sidewalk. She scanned it slowly, as if she were looking for any abnormalities it might have. She discreetly scanned the street before them and after them from the corner of her eyes. “We could always go and buy something to eat.” She turned away from the small tree, stuffing her hands into her pockets. “A restaurant? Or take out if you really want to go back home soon. At least we’d have to wait a little while before the food is ready before heading back to the house. Either way, we haven’t eaten out in a while and let’s be honest,” the corner of her mouth lifted up into a smirk, “you’re not the best cook and I kinda get tired of cooking for you all the time.” She didn’t really mind cooking for her brother. She’d actually rather cook for him than having to eat kraft dinner and microwavable food for days on end.

Hallen opened his mouth to dispute that fact, but realized that there really was no way to without making something up. “Okay, you’re kind of right. Let’s find a restaurant.” As long as there was food, he would be happy. In general. He wouldn’t be happy if, say, there was food but then someone from the Vercigetorix showed up and kidnapped them back to their den to torture and kill. “We can go someone we’ve never tried before. Expand our horizons,” he added dryly. He knew that as they spoke, his sister was only paying attention to their conversation with part her attention, that she was watching for danger with the other half. That, too was habit. Glance out of the corner of your eye, turn your head to look at Denny, look in the shop windows to make sure no one was following, walk with an uneven gait and listen to make sure no one is following. They were things that he did nearly without having to think. They were the things that kept you alive when you lived in a city of people who changed into animals and were on the run from an organization that could control spirits of the natural world.

Hayden’s smirk grew into a grin and she nudged Hallen with her elbow. “Depends on what you mean by expanding our horizons. I don’t want to try eating something completely exotic.” She wrinkled her nose. It wasn’t that she wasn’t fond of the idea of trying new foods, but she wasn’t fond of the unknown aftermath the new food would have on her. It wasn’t the first time she’s had something new and she ended up being sick afterwards. “Being the rebellious new food eater is more your thing than mine anyways, but let’s go see what we find.” Hooking her arm around her brother’s arm, she led him off down the street. She would rather have go home instead of wander around the city some more, but if this meant they’d be extra certain that their house hadn’t be followed to or that there were no explosives hidden anywhere.

“We could try Japanese food,” Hallen suggested. “They eat squid, did you know?” He was quite sure that his sister did in fact know that, but he felt like telling her anyways. “I can get the squid and you can get something normal like eggrolls or pot stickers and then if the squid doesn’t make me sick, you can have some of it. And if it does make me sick, then we’ll know that squid isn’t good to eat and we can go back to hamburgers. Let’s go this way,” he said suddenly, pulling his sister around a corner by her arm. “Maybe there will be Japanese food this way. Or hamburgers.” As hungry as he was, Hallen wasn’t going to be particularly picky with what he ate, so long as it wasn’t gross or consisting entirely of vegetables. He ate vegetables only as much as his sister made him.

“Yes, yes I did know that,” Hayden sighed, shaking her head slowly. She frowned, raising an eyebrow and glancing up at her brother. “That doesn’t sound like a good idea. Why would you want to try eating something when it might make you sick?” She was fairly sure that the squid was going to be fine, but still. “If you get food poisoning you’re not going to go and eat hamburgers right after.” She yelped as she was pulled off down a corner, and she shot a glare up at Hallen. For all of his nice and brotherly love, sometimes he was just a jerk. He could have dislocated her shoulder! “Just hold on for a minute,” she pulled on the back of his shirt to stop him. “This is going to take us a while if we’re just going to go walking around and hoping we’ll come across a Japanese restaurant, or some other take out place. We could look at a map, or find someone that’s willing to give us directions. I don’t think your stomach can handle much more waiting for us to find some food to fill it up with.” She gave Hallen’s belly a poke, smiling up at him sweetly before she continued on down the street. She would have rather look at a map and find their own way to a restaurant than resorting to having to ask anyone for help. If push came to shove though, she didn’t want to spend the night wondering around for somewhere to eat. She did want to go back home at some point.

“Eeeeehh,” Hallen complained, but again, he couldn’t come up with any real protest without making something silly up. He rubbed his stomach where his sister had poked him. “Let’s find a map,” he suggested, trotting obediently after his sister as she began walking down the street again. “Are you sure there’s nothing close by where we could eat?” He looked down the street, but didn’t see any promising signs or colorful lights that might indicate an inviting food place. Hayden was right, though. He wanted to find food fast, and then maybe they could head back to their house without fear of being followed. It should be long enough by then. “If we have to find someone to ask directions to, you ask them and I’ll stand behind you and look scary,” he said.

Hayden came to a sudden halt, turning her head to look up at her brother slowly. "You will do no such thing! You'll just scare whoever it is I'll be talking too and make us both remember-able in the process." Sighing, she shook her head and looked away, continuing to walk down the street. How did Hallen manage to come up with these ideas? Why didn't he think about the consequences of those actions? Maybe that's what she was for. "If we find someone to ask for directions you can keep a look out. Don't look at the person, don't even try to smile at them, just think of your grumbling stomach needing to be filled up."

Hallen immediate looked taken aback, and then started to pout dramatically. He'd thought it was quite a good idea. "No one remembers people who ask them for directions. They'll just think we're tourists! If they're all scared and flustered, they're even less likely to remember us! Why can I look at the people you talk to. Won't they think its weird if I don't? I'll be less scary if I can smile at them!" he protested. "It'll be rude."

Sighing, Hayden came to a halt again and glanced up at her brother. "We're not going to get anything to eat anytime soon if we're going to continue arguing over this. Whenever we come across someone to ask for directions you can do whatever you want. If they react negatively..." She shrugged her shoulders, shaking her head. "We'll deal with it then. Sound good to you?" A cold drop fell onto her cheek and Hayden jumped, looking skyward to see the dark grey clouds rolling above them. "Well....this is just great," she mumbled. "Let's get going. I don't want to get sick from being caught out in the rain again." She took a hold of Hallen's sleeve and pulled him along after her.

"Okay okay okay," Hallen muttered. "I'll be quiet, whatever. You have such a low opinion of me," he complained sarcastically. He felt a few drops of rain on his head and glanced up at the sky, covered in low grey clouds. He hadn't noticed that clouds were coming in until now. It had been sunny earlier that day. He grinned at the sky and stuck out his tongue to catch a drop. "Don't be silly, we aren't going to get sick from a little bit of rain. It isn't even cold."

Hayden stared, watching her brother catch a rain drop on his tongue. "That is easy for you to say. You weren't the one that got sick the last time, were you?" Again she tugged on his sleeve, eager to get moving. "If getting sick doesn't bother you than how about finding some food? We're not going to be able to find anyone to talk to out in the rain." Anything sounded good to eat at the moment. Even if it was junk food. At least she knew Hallen wouldn't complain about it.
