Alice was just beyond broken to speak at the moment. She had never ventured out much in her life and now life was basically slapping her in the face. The guilt was too much for her to handle. She didn't want Enethar to die... but there was a very large chance that he would just shut down completely. She would lose her only friend who gave a care about her. Kieran showed some sympathy and not enough. Her father flat out ignored her and Adrian could care less about her. She would be all alone again in this world... just like she was in the first place. She staggered into the boarding house, looking down at the ground.

When the search party returned the next day, they looked rather haggard, but had found their quarry. The guard from earlier came over to them as they all reverted to their human forms, Enethar laid out on the ground in their midst. They started talking earnestly amongst themselves just as Venus came out with Alice. "What's the situation?" she asked, since 'what's going on' was a stupid question.

Alice looked at the man, and then back towards Enethar. She wanted to head past them and go to Enethar, but she didn't want to interfere with healers trying to save him or cause anymore drama. She began to feel almost sick from her anxiety and from her worst fears.

"Not good, really," the guard said to Venus. "His wounds got infected, and he lost too much blood as it is. He's lucky to have survived this long."
Enethar was lying on the ground, possibly awake. It was hard to tell. He was pale as death and shaking, from cold or blood loss or both. The village doctor was examining him briefly before he motioned to one of the others to help pick him up. They carried him into one of the houses.

Alice trembled in fear, but she was also shocked. Enethar stayed alive for her because she told him to. She looked towards them. "H-Hey. If anyone goes to see Enethar... Can someone tell him I'm sorry?" She asked shyly. "I don't want to interfere with the doctors."

The guard looked at her when she spoke and nodded. "Alright," he said, confused as to why she was apologizing. Venus rested a hand on Alice's shoulder. "I'm sure you'll be able to see him later," she said, trying to comfort her. "Then you can tell him yourself."

Alice nodded slowly. "Thank you so much for finding him. I really owe you all." She looked up at the man, a weak smile on her face along with more tears. "Really. Thank you all so much."

One of the men that had gone with and was standing by them just rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. “It’s no big deal, miss. We help out anyone we can no matter where they are. No one came for us back in the day when we started this village. We vowed not to leave anyone else in that position.” The guard shrugged. “It’s hard, but we manage. The hunters have been giving us a hard time lately. Elector is in a hard place right now and hasn’t been able to send us the aid we require. They are never like this, so it must be something serious.” Venus bit the inside of her cheek, then patted Alice on the shoulder. “Let’s go get something to eat, alright. I’m sure you all want to rest as well,” she said, looking at the patrollers. “Yah, we’ll just let the others know we’re back,” the patroller said. Venus nodded to them as they left. She looked at Alice. “Let’s go,” she said.

Something was going on in Elector? Alice didn't know what was, but she understood their circumstances. She turned to Venus and nodded, gladly following along behind her. She felt relieved that Enethar lived, but he had to recover... and it was probably going to take awhile.

Venus brought Alice back to the boarding house and paused only to look back at the guard and disbanding patrollers. She held the door open for Alice and closed it behind them.
