Kieran had slowed down considerably. It was an effort to get through the tunnel now. They had probably done this on purpose.
We're going to have to climb as humans, he growled down to Lorcan.

Lorcan stopped climbing. Growling he shifted into human form. He kept a hand on Adrian, keeping his look alike up above him. They were going to go even slower now.

Kieran shifted slowly back to human form, keeping his claws and tail so he could balance better. Looking down at Lorcan, he growled, "Hand him to me. I can carry him better."

Lorcan stared up at Kieran for a long moment before he finally continued climbing and pushed Adrian up towards the older Were. He wasn't sure whether or not the other weredragon really would be able to carry him better. It looked like he was far more exhausted than he was, but he wasn't going to argue.

Kieran reached down and shifted his right hand momentarily. He grabbed Adrian by the wrist, and with a heave, brought him up and over his shoulder. The added weight as no fun, but he didn't care. He shifted his hand back to claws and continued his climb.

Adrian lay slumped over Kieran's shoulder, feeling the guilt grow and gnaw at his insides. His older brother must have been dead tired and here he was having to climb out of the air shaft while he was draped on his shoulder adding extra weight. He stared back at Lorcan as the other weredragon continued to climb as well. Maybe everyone would have been better off if his twin had finished him. Once out of the shaft there wasn't going to be any time to stop and rest. They were going to have to push on, run away and find somewhere to hide.

Kieran paused, bracing himself on the wall as he just took a moment to breathe. His breath was coming out cold, and his chest felt hard and heavy. He shifted his throat and mouth, then tried to breathe out flame. It came out like a cough. Nothing. Not even smoke. Fuck... now what is this... He shifted his mouth and throat back, reaching up and climbing further, his tail lashing to help keep him balanced as he went.

Adrian listened carefully when Kieran stopped. Something was wrong. Did he try to breathe out fire? "Kieran, you can't carry me anymore. This is too much for you." He squirmed, trying to use his leg to push himself off of the wall and over his brother's shoulder. He didn't know whether or not Lorcan would catch him if he managed to fall, but they weren't going to make it out if Kieran had to continue carrying dead weight.

Kieran grunted when Adrian moved. The movement was bothering him more than Adrian's weight had been. "No point," he said lowly, pulling himself up a bit more, his claws sinking into the stone. "Just don't move, alright? We're almost there."

Adrian paused, listening to what Kieran had to say. He couldn't really twist around and see if they really were almost there or not. "Fine," he replied and stopped moving. "But you're not carrying me anymore once we're out of here."

"We have to fly, remember," he said. "Don't worry about that though. It'll be easier when I'm a hundred times your size." He snifed the air carefully, noting the cooler feel of wind brushing his skin. "Almost there. Just a few more yards."

Adrian grumbled under his breath. Damn it. At least he hoped Kieran was right. That it really would be easier for him to be carried while he was in dragon form. If not...he didn't think he had any choice in the matter.

Kieran finally saw the opening. He used his claws to rake apart the cover. Then he slid up and through, looking around. No guards yet, but they would be here any second. "Up and out. Let's fly." He crawled out and set Adrian on the ground while he waited for Lorcan.

Adrian frowned, and glanced around once he was set on the ground. His frown deepened, seeing his fingers were covered in blood, and he tried to wipe them clean on his pants. Looking over at the shaft, he saw Lorcan climb out and within seconds his twin shifted into his dragon form. He looked away when Lorcan's icy gaze landed on him, glancing back at the other were when he saw him open his wings and shoot up into the sky.

"We may as well follow suit," Kieran said, the rest of his body catching up with his hands and tail. Soon, he was also in dragon form. Red scales glimmered in the light of the sky. He flinched at the sound of clamoring. Whipping around to Adrian, he scooped him up with his forefoot, spread his wings, and took to the skies.
