"How do I know that?" he snapped. "I've been surrounded by liars and traitors alike all my life apparently, and now that they've shown their true selves, it's just a bit difficult to take in. A wake up call to the real world if ever I had one." He huffed, sending out a little trickle of smoke from his mouth. ""And yes, there are many reasons why telling of me would benefit you. Many men will pay any price to find such a beast as I. So, no, I will not trust you." He settled down then, eyeing the boy warily for a few minutes, then turned to regard other things. No point trying to fly anymore. He needed more sleep. He then smelled beef jerky and leaned over to inspect it, sniffing at the pack with eye narrowed.

“Well, now you know,” he replied after he swallowed the jerky. “Sounds like your life has sucked so far,” he glanced at the dragon, seeing the smoke coming from his mouth. “Is it the liars and traitors you’re running away from now?” He scowled at the mention of selling out the were-boy for a handsome sum of money. Shaking his head, he snorted and stuffed another piece of jerky into his mouth. That was dirty money. He wouldn’t submit himself to such lowly ways to earn money, even if he was desperate for it. He eyed the dragon when he saw the were-boy eyeing his jerky. He held the bag out towards the dragon, chewing slowly. No way would the jerky be enough to satisfy a dragon, but he had nothing else to offer a meat eater.

"Does it matter who I run from?" he growled lowly. "It's enough that I run at all." Kieran drew back, snorting, and slumped down by the fire. There was no way he was going to get any rest in this form. He felt too vulnerable. Which was off, considering he was a dragon. But there was a better chance of him being seen and recognized as a dragon than as a human. So with much teeth grinding and bracing, he slowly began the painful process of shifting back into human form. He couldn't go any faster, much as he would like too. It was a wonder he had not passed out from exhaustion. When he was smaller, he put all his effort into finishing the job quick. In an instant, he was human again, breathing heavy, but otherwise fine. He pulled his knees to his chest and wrapped his arms around them, keeping close to the fire for warmth.

“No…in the end I guess it doesn’t,” he replied, shrugging and taking another piece of jerky. When he saw the dragon was beginning to change, he couldn’t help but stare. Yes he was familiar with weres, and he had seen a handful of them change before, but this were-boy was the first mythical were that he had been around for more than five minutes without it leaving. “That looked like it hurt. Does it always hurt to change? Or does it hurt now because you’re wounded?” Noting he was still staring, he glanced away. The clouds had continued to darken, and it only was when he felt the first drop of water on his face that he stood and hurried to finish setting up the tarp. It was beginning to pour just as he was finishing up. He pulled his bag and the sleeping bag under the tarp with him, on the other side of the fire. Glancing at the boy, he held the sleeping bag out towards him, “You want it?”

Kieran just glared at the boy when he asked the question before turning back to watch the fire, lost in his own thoughts. Even when the clouds gathered over head and the rain began to fall, he just sat there, unresponsive. The trees he was under kept him from getting wet. Somewhat. Finally, the boy's voice, pulled him from his reverie. He stood up and walked over to sit under the tarp, rubbing his arms to get some feeling back in them after the cold rain. It was much colder here than in Cinaed, and his thinned blood was not used to the change. He snorted a puff of fire at the ground, lighting a patch of moss, dry under the tarp. He shot a glance at the boy and snatched the sleeping bag away. He wrapped it around him and huddled there, staring at the fire some more. The fire outside was smoking badly and dying out.

“I’ll take that as a yes times two then,” he mumbled, sitting back down. He glanced to look at the patch of flaming moss, and sighing, he looked away. It must have been awesome to be a were, to be able to change into another animal. To be able to fly, swim, run really fast, or do all of those things…. Taking out his knife, he begun to twirl it around in his fingers again, before he stabbed the ground. Again and again he plunged it into the earth, a scowl forming on his face. Then he flopped over and lay on the ground. He frowned up at the sky, rain falling into his face. Maybe he really was crazy. If it was for wanting to be a were, it must have been for his other tendencies. Whichever reason it was, it was good enough for them to deem him unstable enough, for well, everything. Sitting back up, he pulled the knife out of the ground, took a cloth out from his bag and begun to clean the knife slowly.

Kieran just stared into the fire, ignoring the boy's antics. By the time the boy sat up again, he settled down on the ground, back to the boy and his fire, and he fell asleep. Sometimes he just wished he was dead.

He continued to clean the knife, moving the cloth over and over the blade, even though he knew he must have cleaned it within the first few minutes. Holding the knife out to the fire, he frowned as he inspected it with narrowed eyes and finally placed the knife back into it’s sheath. Looking up at the were-boy, he raised an eyebrow when he saw his back towards him. When had the kid gone to sleep? He tilted his head, trying to recall, and he shrugged. Laying down on the ground, he crossed his arms behind his head, and stared up at the tarp. It wouldn’t be a good idea to go out into the forest to check the traps. Plus, he didn’t really want to leave were-boy alone. The kid was paranoid enough that he was going to go and tell someone about him as it was. With a loud yawn, he closed his eyes and drifted off.

Kieran slept through the night well enough. When morning finally rolled around, the storm had rolled away. He blinked awake, snuggled deep in the warmth of the sleeping bag. But he pushed it aside and sat up, blinking and bleary eyed. He rubbed his eye with the back of his hand and looked around warily. That human was still there, sleeping. Kieran crawled out of the tarp and stood up, his toes sinking into the cold, wet soil. Feeling refreshed, he decided to go get something to eat, seeing as he hadn't eaten in a long time, and dying had made him rather hungry to begin with. He shifted into a dragon once more and took to the skies. He caught a wolf for himself, and as an afterthought, grabbed a rabbit for the human. he brought his prey back to the little campsite, the wolf hanging limply from his jaws with the rabbit. He dropped both to the ground and began eating the wolf hungrily.

Rolling over onto his stomach, he continued sleeping. He opened an eye, seeing the were-boy was awake, changing into dragon form and flying off. He sat up when the dragon returned, crawling out from under the tarp he rubbed his eyes. He frowned, blinking a few times when he saw the mythical creature eating the wolf. He eyed the rabbit that lay on the ground for a few moments before he went about tidying up. He rolled up the sleeping bag, and took down the tarp, folding it and putting it into his bag. “So….were you planning on keeping me prisoner forever or something?”

Kieran shifted back to his human form, blood smeared down his shirt and on his face and arms and hands. He wiped his mouth with his shirt, though that hardly helped. "Don't know," he replied. He grabbed the rabbit and carried it by its neck to the human. "Give me your knife," he said, which came out more of an order than he probably intended. He bit his tongue, cursing himself. I can't let this stress get to me, he thought, It's pointless to take out aggression on this human.

“That’s….well, that’s very vague,” he frowned, closing up his bag and standing up by it, he turned to look back at the were-boy. He raised an eyebrow when he saw the kid covered in blood. Eh…this wouldn’t be the first and probably not the last time he was going to see someone all bloody. He glanced down to see the rabbit the kid held, before he met the were-boy’s gaze again. At the order he grew tense. Jaw clenched, hands curling into fists while his heart begun to race. Who did this kid think he was? Did he think he had the right to boss him around just because he wasn’t like him? Slowly, his hands uncurled, though they shook slightly at his sides. The corner of his mouth lifted up into a twitchy smile, which he couldn’t hold for long. “Letting you have my sleeping bag and sharing the tarp with you was one thing...." He turned slightly, moving so that his right leg and the sheathed knife strapped to it, were a little further away from the were. "The knife crosses my sharing line.” Were-boy could turn a dragon that could easily kill him, he knew that much, so he knew the knife wasn't meant to harm him. But still....he wasn't about to hand it over.

Kieran just gave him a look, unreadable, but it seemed to be an important one for some reason or other. "It's only temporary," he said calmly. "I caught this rabbit for you, and I was going to skin it. I could shift claws, but with these hands, it's a nuisance." He still had his hand held out, though his arm relaxed slightly, as if the gesture was less demanding, like he was changing his tone from give! to please? and this was the best he could do without saying anything outright. He hardly noticed, but it was his more militant, princely attitude superseding whatever compassion he had on lowly subjects. He was at a breaking point, teetering terribly toward a steep ledge so to speak, waiting for the shoe to drop or straw to break the camel's back. He was harsh around the edges, bristling as a porcupine and ready to let anyone around him taste his wrath. Maybe what he really needed to do was take out his frustration, but next to this human, there was nothing around to do so with.

Again he eyed the rabbit before he met the kid’s gaze. He knew such a thing would only be temporary, but that didn't reassure him in the least. No way would he give the knife away, even if it was for a few minutes. “I know how to skin animals, I could do it.” Now he held his hand out, eager to take the rabbit and put this knife sharing business behind him.

Kieran watched him with a stern but similarly unreadable gaze. Then he handed the rabbit over, dropping his bloodied hand back to his side. He then went over to sit by the coal mound that had been the fire. He poked at it with his fingers, then seemed to notice then that they were covered in blood. And hurting. Now that he thought about it, his front legs as a dragon had been pretty useless, and the pain in his arms was becoming more and more unbearable. The drugs are wearing off, he thought coldly. Whatever they did to try and fix them, I probably screwed it all up with my carelessness. He felt his face get hot, and he had to let out the breath he was holding, albeit a shaky one. He needed water. He looked up and around him. Where was water? he remembered a pool when he went to fight the wolf, just over the crest and down a ways. He stood up slowly, holding onto his arm now where it hurt the most, trying to keep it still. "Do whatever you like. Or must," he said lowly, his voice heavily controlled so as not to betray him. He staggered off into the woods.
