A massive ridge of rocks that rises up in the middle of the forest like the dorsal fin of a great sea serpent. There is a large clearing of trees around the middle of it. The rest is surrounded by beech, oak, birch, maple, pine, and cypress.

Kieran dropped to the ground and found something of rest here at this strange ridge of rocks. Leaning against the stone, he turned back to human form, panting from the exertion and the pain, as by now the medications had worn off. Thankfully, it had all gone to aches rather than stabs, and he could tolerate that much. He wrapped his arms around himself, shivering slightly from the much cooler breezes here. He had been rather dumb, he realized, having just left. No preparations, not even proper clothes. He had just enough energy to shift his mouth so he could breathe flame, and bunching sticks and leaves together, he built a fire with a breath of flame. He let himself shift back to fully normal, and he huddled by his fire, dozing off.

Off into the wild he had gone, away from the city and the villages. It was nice to get away from it all sometimes. He froze when he had heard something large flying in the air above him, and he found the sound, remaining in the tree line when he reached the clearing. His eyes widened seeing the great scaly dragon. He knew of Were kind, but he had never seen a dragon before. Retreating back into the trees, he returned to the clearing some time later with his own belongings. Crouching down beside the small flame, he added his own leaves and sticks to it. He frowned, glancing up at the boy huddled beside the fire before he reached over and into his duffel bag. He didn’t know what this were-boy was doing out here. With nothing with him, it looked like he was a runaway of sorts. Pulling out his sleeping bag, he unzipped it as he stood up and opened it to cover the boy.

Kieran was too sound asleep to notice anything, he made some small grunts and shivered, drawing his limbs in closer to himself, but otherwise, he remained much the same, unaware of this new presence. Typically he would have been wide awake at a touch, but the cold and weariness had made him completely spent. No way was he going to wake up now. Not for a while yet.

Pausing at the boy’s side, he tilted his head. When the were-boy still didn’t wake, he shrugged his shoulders and covered him up, tucking in the edges around him. Returning to his bag he sat down beside it. His gaze shifted from the flame and back to the boy a number of times. Taking out the knife from the sheath that was strapped to his calf, he twirled it on his fingertips before he started tossing it into the air. When the boy still didn’t wake, he sighed and stood. He wasn’t going to wait around for the were to wake up. Picking up his bag he headed off into the forest again. There were some traps he could check on. Hopefully the boy would wake up by the time he returned. The sky was overcast and the wind grew chillier by the time he returned. His traps hadn’t caught anything yet, and the weather did little to brighten his mood. Setting down the duffel, he pulled out a tarp before he went to work on setting it up in an angle to shelter them should it rain.

Kieran eventually stirred, still somewhere between wakefulness and sleep. He pulled the sleeping bag tighter around him, mumbling incoherent things. Then, as if a siren sounded, his eyes shot open, and he threw the sleeping bag off of him. He jumped to his feet, one eye darting around wildly, till he caught sight of the boy constructing the tarp thing, but that wasn't exactly registering in his mind yet. In a moment, his entire body shattered, contorted, reformed, and he was a massive, blood red dragon, ember eye blazing, empty socket letting off some kind of black smoke. He lunged at the boy, knocking the human to the ground. Snarling, he pinned the boy down with his forepaw, digging his claws into the earth on either side of the human's body.

Hearing the runaway’s mumblings, he continued with his tarp setting. Seeing movement from the corner of his eye, “Hey, look who’s finally awake-“ His eyes narrowed, before they widened, seeing the were-boy change. “Oh shit!” He barely had time to turn around, let alone time to run before the dragon knocked him to the ground and pinned him down. He stared up at the snarling mythical creature, fighting against his own instincts to try to fight back. He wasn’t even sure he could fight back this time. His opponent was a dragon after all, and he hadn’t been taught to fight those. “Hey there….big dragon, I would appreciate it if you do not eat me.”

Kieran got right in his face, amber eye darting this way and that as he looked the boy over closely. He snarled, lip curling back to expose dark fangs. He snarled, rather loudly, smoke seeping out from between his clenched teeth. And then he pulled away, lifting his foot off the boy. But then he turned around and sat down, pinning the boy down again, this time with his tail. He picked up the boy's pack with a single claw and held it close to his face, sniffing it over. He wasn't sure what he was checking for, just anything that made him suspicious, he supposed.

He stared back at the dragon, even as the were drew closer. He jumped when the dragon snarled again, letting out a bit of a nervous chuckle when he saw the fangs. He blinked quickly, eyes getting watery when smoke came into them. He moved to get up when the dragon got off him, but then he found himself pinned down by his tail instead. He frowned, looking over his shoulder to try and see what the dragon was doing. “You know, if I wanted to kill you I could have done it while you were sleeping.” He still didn’t blame the were-boy for what he was doing though. He would have probably done something similar if there was a stranger about when he woke up. “Instead, I gave you my sleeping bag, and I tended to your fire. Overall, I’d said I’m a pretty nice guy, were-boy.”

Kieran shifted his throat, making a sort of raspy grunt as he did so. He was not well enough for all this shifting. He swung his head around, glaring at the boy harshly. "Don't call me boy, boy," he snarled, his voice much, much deeper than his human one ever was. It fitted a dragon more suitably though. He turned his attention back to the pack, then flung it aside, dragging his claw down the side of his scaled face, thinking. He rubbed gently at his eye socket where it still pained him. His tail wrapped around the boy, pinning his arms and legs to his side, swallowing him in his hold like prey in a snake's coils. He got to all fours and shook himself out, then stepped away from the little campsite, climbing up the rocky ridge to its top. perched at the top of the ridge, clenching the jagged stones with his feet, he surveyed the forest, thinking. Hard. About what was anyone's guess. A lot of thoughts rushed through his mind, about Adrian, Lorcan, the spirits he saw, Alice, Cinaed... He turned to look out where he knew Cinaed was. How was their home doing? General Razka was free to work his evil with them out of the way. And what happened to Alice? He felt his heart sink. Where was his sister? He could not help her here. Not like this. He needed... well, he needed a miracle. And an army. He could start with an army. He crawled back down the ridge and half-stumbled, half jumped the last ten feet to the ground, one leg buckling under him from the strain. His legs had not fully healed. He bit back a cry of pain as he went down, then forced himself up to his feet again. He let the boy go, straightening his tail some. Then he dropped to his haunches and wrapped his tail around himself, keeping his head up, wings folded, watching this new person, a hundred questions about him now running through his troubled mind.

“Hey! I am not a boy. Don’t let this face trick you. I’m twenty-something last I checked. You’re more of a boy than me….though less so with that voice and being a dragon and all…” he mumbled off. Man, even this dragon could pull off a deeper voice than he could! He frowned, eyes narrowing when his bag was flung aside. It might have meant nothing to this were-boy, but those were his belongings he was tossing away like garbage. He tilted his head when he saw the dragon rubbing at his eye, and he debated whether or not to ask what happened to it, until the dragon wrapped him up in his tail. He squirmed for a few moments, stopped when he saw the were-boy climb up the ridge with him in tow. He didn’t know what the dragon was thinking. Maybe it was debating whether to roast him or skin him alive. When the dragon’s tail released him, he was quick to step back and out of the were’s grasp. Looking back at the dragon, and seeing he was looking back at him, he looked away and went to retrieve his duffel bag. Rummaging through it, he closed it up when he was satisfied nothing had been damaged. Sitting down crossing legged, he pulled out his knife again and started to twirl it in his palm, glancing up at the darkening sky warily.

Kieran's eye narrowed at the knife, watching the silver gleam orange as it reflected the firelight. He growled lowly for all of a few seconds before turning his attention to the dwindling fire. He stretched out a wing and wrapped it around a dead tree. With a snap, he pulled the dead thing up -not that it was that hard for even a human to try knocking it over, the poor tree was in rather a state- and he held it up somewhat. He opened his mouth, firing a steady stream of fire at its top. When it caught alight. He stabbed the tree into the earth and let its blaze keep him warm, though being a dragon, he was rather warm already. Settling down with his tail wrapped around him, he tucked his front legs in and stared into the fire, still contemplating things, deep in thought, and simultaneously ignoring the human as well. Though he did pose a problem.

The twirling of the knife came to a halt, and he watched the dragon pull up the dead tree with his wing, before he set it on fire and set it back down like a torch. Watching the burning tree for a few more moments, he stood, putting the knife away and picking up his bag. He eyed his sleeping bag and tarp, not all too keen to try and get them back with the dragon near them, before he looked up at the dragon. “Well then, were-boy, I’m going to go in there,” he gestured back to the forest, “better shelter in there against rain and all…” He backed up slowly, biting the inside of his cheek. It didn’t feel right to leave this kid out here on his own, but it wasn’t like this was your ordinary human kid either. He was a dragon, and he was fairly sure the dragon would be able to look after himself now that he was awake.

"Oh no you don't," the dragon snarled, suddenly standing, then crashing down as his legs gave way. He beat the air with his wings, making the fire flare like crazy, and he rose up a few feet before landing sloppily next to the human. He pinned him down again, then scooped him up in his claws. "You're not going anywhere. I don't trust you to not go blabbing of my whereabouts to any human out there, and have the Hunters raining down on my ass. That's the last thing I need." He dragged himself backwards, slithering somewhat, and dropped the boy on the ground near the fire. "You stay!" he snapped.

“For heaven’s sake,” he grumbled, when the dragon snarled and pinned him down again. “It’s nice to meet someone else with trust issues, but I’m not going to go and talk to anyone about anything. I keep to myself, and I have my own bloody radar to stay under. I’ve got enough people looking for me. You really think I’m going to go and draw attention to myself by mentioning a were-dragon to anyone?” He crossed his arms over his chest, grumbling to himself some more. After a few moments past, he dug into his bag, and pulled out a zip-lock bag. Pulling out a piece of jerky, he tore a smaller piece with his teeth before he begun to chew slowly. He’d have to ration what he brought out here with him. This were-boy wasn’t about to let him go check on his traps either.
